Sisters Disciples of the Divine Master in France
Born in 1924, the Sisters Disciples of the Divine Master belong to the Pauline Family founded by Father Jacques Alberione (1884-1971), proclaimed "Blessed" by Pope John Paul II.
Disciples and apostles, in the spirit of Saint Paul, they communicate Jesus Master Way, truth and Life present in the Eucharist, the Priesthood and the Liturgy to the whole world.
A little history....
Founded by Blessed Jacques Alberione in Alba (Italy), on February 10, 1924, in the liturgical memory of Saint Scholastica, we are the third institute of the Pauline Family within which we constitute the contemplative branch.
Eight young people form the first nucleus. Ursule Marie Rivata is designated as Sister in charge.
During her habit, she took the name of Sister Marie Scholastique. The founder identified these first Sisters by giving them the name of Disciples of the Divine Master, a name that summarizes their program and lifestyle.
In the Church, we have been canonically recognized through the following stages:
April 3, 1947: diocesan approval signed by Mgr. Luigi M. Grassi, Bishop of Alba.
January 12, 1948: papal approval by Pope Pius XII.
August 30, 1960: definitive approval by Pope John XXIII.
Present in 30 nations, we have been in France since December 28, 1932
Spirituality
Seized by the love of Jesus Master, Way, Truth and Life, we follow him on the paths of the world within the Church and the Pauline Family.
Mary, Queen of the Apostles, introduces us to the school of her son Jesus to become his disciples; she teaches us to love him in everyday life. Like the women of the Gospel, we proclaim Christ dead and risen in the spirit of Saint Paul who made himself everything to everyone.
Mission
Our mission in the Church is born from a single source and has a single goal: love for Jesus living in the Eucharist, the Priesthood and the Liturgy.
Apostles of the Eucharist in the ministry of unceasing prayer that extends to perpetual adoration, we intercede with God for all humanity.
Inserted into the pastoral action of the Church, we collaborate with ordained ministers and lay people in the liturgical and artistic formation of the people of God so that they can pray and celebrate with dignity and beauty.
We disseminate the fruit of our work in the store "at the service of the liturgy", a place also for listening and catechesis.
With the power of prayer and attentiveness full of care, we accompany vocations to the priesthood. We watch over priests who live in situations of poverty, illness and old age in particular.
Communities in France and in the world
Nourished at the table of the Word and the Eucharist, we form international apostolic communities attentive to the signs of the times and open to multicultural dialogue.
"Communities of consecrated life are sent to proclaim, through the witness of their lives, the value of Christian fraternity and the transforming power of the Good News"
John Paul II
